About CTA
From its humble beginnings in the early 80's to its current status as the largest traditional archery club in North Carolina, the Carolina Traditional Archers have been keeping the traditions alive. The Carolina Traditional Archers are about promoting traditional archery and bow hunting.
Each month, CTA hosts a 3D shoot for traditional archery enthusiasts. Participants shoot a 20 target course that consists of foam targets that exactly duplicate game animals placed in realistic hunting settings. A meal is also served. These shoots are open to members and visitors, and first time visitors shoot and eat for free. Click on the events button for more information on club shoots.
In addition to our monthly activities, CTA along with Catawba Valley Wildlife Club host the North Carolina Traditional Archery Championship. This three day event is held each year during the Memorial Day weekend and attracts archers from all across the southeast. It includes two, twenty 3D target ranges; traditional archery vendors, novelty shoots, free camping, home cooked meals, restrooms and hot showers. Trophies are awarded for men, women and youth in longbow, recurve and primitive classes.
