From its humble beginnings in the early
80’s to
its current status as the largest traditional archery club in North
Carolina, the Carolina Traditional Archers have been
keeping the traditions alive.
The Carolina Traditional Archers are about
promoting traditional archery and bow hunting.
Each month, CTA hosts a
3D shoot for traditional archery enthusiasts. Participants shoot a 20
target course that consist of foam targets that exactly duplicate game
animals placed in realistic hunting settings. A meal is also served. These
shoots are open to members and visitors, and first time visitors shoot and
eat for free. Click on the 2008 Events button for more information.
In addition to our monthly activities, CTA along
with the Catawba Valley Wildlife Club host the North Carolina Traditional
Archery Championship. This 3 day event held each year during the Memorial
Day weekend attracts archers from all across the southeast. It includes
two, twenty 3D target courses, practice range, traditional vendors, novelty shoots,
free camping, home cooked meals, restrooms, and showers. Trophies are
awarded for men, women and youth in longbow, recurve and primitive
classes. Click on the State Championship button for more information.
